Artist: SANDRA HANDSCHIN I’ve been working with all kinds of flowers for quite some time. For my studio work, however, I’ve always gone to the flower shop and bought the most unique and exotic flowers I could find. This spring, I had to mow one of my large meadows, and as a byproduct, so to speak, I ended up with a huge amount of buttercups. So I brought them into my studio and photographed them, and I found the result so wonderful that I turned it into a series featuring other wildflowers, all of which come from my garden. They’d been there for years, but this was the first time I saw them with fresh eyes and felt they were worthy of being photographed. This showed me how important our perspective is and what we choose to focus our attention on. Maybe everything is already there—you just have to see it.
