Remo Buess brings many years of experience in portrait photography, including assignments for magazines such as*Der Beobachter*and*Schweizer Illustrierte*, as well as his work at the International Photo Festival Olten and the Haus der Fotografie. In this workshop, Remo will apply this knowledge in a practical way so you can understand how cohesive portraits are created—from the lighting setup to the mood of the image.

Basics of Portrait Photography
You'll learn how a portrait setup is arranged and what it takes to create a compelling portrait using simple tools.Theory with Practical Applications
The course begins with a brief theoretical section: Using specific image examples, Remo shows you how he worked, what lighting he used, how the set was set up, and what he paid particular attention to. This allows you to follow the process step by step.Light and Shadow
You’ll learn how to use light and shadow to create moods. Remo will show you various methods for getting the most out of your setup using simple tools. You’ll put what you’ve learned into practice right away during various photo shoots in his studio.
